And then there were two....
Both Sarah and Elizabeth have left the island and have made it safely back to the states. Crazy how quickly the trip has gone, and Alisha and I only have about a week left. We are in Utila until Sunday morning and then are heading back to La Ceiba, and then to Tela for the rest of our stay in Honduras.
This morning, before Elizabeth left, the 3 of us had a new yoga experience, on paddleboards anchored to a pole sticking out of the Caribbean. It was a sunrise yoga session, and so we started at 4:30am. Yoga, if you have never done it is not easy on stable land, so trying to balance on the moving waves of the Caribbean was quite difficult as well. However, it was very beautiful, and mind cleansing. Watching the sunrise above the water was an amazing opportunity, especially while focusing on your inner self. The yoga positions we did were mostly poses that were close to the board, so that made the experience a bit easier. We all made it through, and Elizabeth only fell off the board twice :)
After our yoga session I went out on the morning boat for my two fun dives that come along with my certification. We went to the North Side of the island and dove at Little Bite and Stingray Point. The visibility was pretty poor, but we were still able to see a few cool underwater creatures. We saw a lobster, a flounder fish, a cow fish, a few trumpet fish, etc. No turtle yet, but Alisha and I are thinking on going on another 2 dives on Saturday down to the Wreck site here in Utila. Plus we are diving Friday night for our first night dive. Sascha, a instructor at Captain Morgans, said he is good (aka probably more lucky) at finding sleeping turtles so I'm hoping we may have a chance.
The longer I've been on the island the more friends we have made. After being in a place for a week you begin to meet the staff and the other travelers staying at the hostel; people who have amazing stories, and pretty exciting lives. Both of the instructors we've had a chance to meet, Brian (my instuctor) and Sascha are two really awesome guys. They both make you feel welcome here and seem to always give you an invite to stay as long as you'd like. We have also spent time with many of people getting their dive masters here. Brian, Rani, Daniella, Rhys, Leo, Caco, Frenchie...all of them are have definitely added to our stay here in Utila. And you can't forget about the cooks, Christina and Addy. They were amazing, and on top of wonderful cooks they were also hilarious :) They are all making this place harder and harder to leave. Until next time....
