raised in wisconsin, inspired by the world
Over Christmas break, myself and three friends made the long trek from Lilongwe, Malawi to Mozambique Island. During our eleven day adventure we were able to explore the beautiful teal waters of the Indian Ocean, learn about the history of the island, and see a place that not many tourists have experienced.

Mozambique Island is located off the northern coasts of Mozambique in Nampula Province. For four centuries the island was known as the capital of Mozambique and a main trade stop between India and Portugal. The island gained independence from the Portuguese in 1975 and has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage site since. With a length of 3km and width of 500m, this small island has a population of 14,000 people living there today.
