I’m not sure I thought it was possible to get much better than the hostel we stayed at in Copan, but where we pulled into last night around 8pm may give El Abuelo its run for its money. We are currently in our 2nd city of this adventure, starting a new chapter in La Ceiba. We are staying at the hostel OMEGA Tours Ego Lodge for the next 3 nights before we head to Utila. Within the first 5 minutes of being surrounded by this magical place the thought of moving here permanently went in and out of my mind probably 75 times; I felt as I was in my element.

This hostel was bought in 1992 by a couple from Germany, who we had the pleasure of meeting last night. Because it was already dark when we arrived we weren’t able to walk around the grounds, until today. However, even in the dark, we could tell that we are practically off the grid, surrounding by the Honduran jungle. It doesn’t get much better than this, or at least I thought.

That was until this morning, when I realized last night was just a small part of what we were about to experience. This trip has been so cleansing for my mind, body, and soul. The landscape, the atmosphere around us could not get any better. We woke up to the beauty of the color green. I can’t complain. Sunshine and jungle go quite well together. We started the day with a fresh pineapple, a yoga session, and a quiet time of meditation; all completed before 9am. It’s impossible to sleep in here, and why would you when there is so much nature surrounding us. I woke to the sounds of the jungle; crickets, geckos, and wind. All sounds that I love.

We have spent the majority of our day today relaxing at the Lodge. The sun has been amazing, and our goal was to soak up every ray possible. We've spent lots of time in the pool, laying in hammocks reading, and making friends with with the other travelers, along as with the staff. The people here are awesome, from all over the world. However, he best part of the day was when I was checking my email and realized I had an email stating that I have been extended an invitation for my Peace Corps service. This news was big for me as I was not expecting a potential placement until November. I have been praying alot about this moment in my life, and God has blessed me now with the opportunity abroad for 27 months. What amazing news to read while sitting in the middle of the jungle in Honduras. I can't complain. Life is good. Until next time...
